Ancient, Modern & Extraordinary

Mexico is far more complex and rewarding than most international visitors expect. Mexico City is one of the world's great capitals — a metropolis of 22 million people with world-class museums, extraordinary architecture, and a food scene that has fundamentally shaped global gastronomy. Oaxaca is the cultural and culinary heart of the country. The Yucatán Peninsula is Maya civilisation at its most spectacular.

Our tours take a considered approach to Mexico's complexity — spending enough time in each place to understand it properly, with local guides who grew up in the communities we visit. Food is central to every Oncor Mexico tour, because Mexican cuisine is extraordinary and deeply regional.

The Zócalo, Teotihuacán, Frida Kahlo's Blue House, the Palacio de Bellas Artes, and some of the world's greatest street food.

What travelers say about Mexico
★★★★★4.8 · 108+ reviews
★★★★★
"The street food tour in Mexico City on day one set the tone perfectly. By the end I was eating chapulines (grasshoppers) with complete confidence. The Oaxacan mole was one of the best things I have ever tasted."

"Teotihuacán at sunrise before the crowds — standing on the Pyramid of the Moon looking down the Avenue of the Dead. Our guide explained the astronomy and it was extraordinary."

Frequently asked
Mexico Travel Questions
Is Mexico City safe for tourists?
The areas we visit — Polanco, Condesa, Roma, Centro Histórico — are safe and well-patrolled. Our guides handle all logistics and we brief all guests on sensible precautions.
What is mezcal and how is it different from tequila?
Mezcal is made from agave plants (tequila is a type of mezcal made specifically from blue agave). Oaxacan mezcal is smoky, complex, and one of Mexico's great artisan products. A mezcal tasting is included on our Oaxaca day.
Do I need Spanish to visit Mexico?
Not at all — our guides handle all communication. However, even a few words of Spanish is warmly received and adds enormously to the experience.
Can I extend to the Mexican Caribbean coast?
Yes — Tulum, Bacalar, and the Riviera Maya are popular extensions. Ask your advisor.
